Equipping Pastors | Congo
Five years ago this month, I was invited to go to the Kinshasa, Congo to teach pastors from all over the country about leadership. Starting in 2006, I had the great opportunity to assist pastors in their leadership development. Then later I was privileged to also teach about leadership. This ministry took place through an organization called Equip.
John C. Maxwell formed Equip and their cited vision is “to see effective Christian leaders fulfill the Great Commission in every nation” and their mission is “to mobilize Christian leaders to transform their world.” In partnership with Equip, I had the opportunity to assist in Moscow and St. Petersburg, Russia and teach in Dubai, UAE; and Kinshasa, Congo. The highlight of my two days of teaching was the praise and worship with which they would open each session. There was no music, just beautiful voices and clapping of hands. I have included a short video from one of the sessions. They are singing “Amen, Amen!” over and over again. It was amazing!
Finally, at the end of my teaching time, the leaders of the two-day meetings prayed over people as others sang praises to Jesus. I haven’t–and lord-willing, won’t ever–take those opportunities lightly and I understand the weight of speaking into others’ lives. Please take a moment to pray for our Christian brothers and sisters around the world who are in leadership positions. May Christ cause his Spirit to overflow in their hearts so that the Father might receive more glory and his name might receive more renown (Isa. 26:8) through their obedient lives!
